We're currently investigating what happened. The database locked up and then the server went offline for around an hour shortly afterwards.

Everything should be working fine now.

Yes, these mysterious posts which you probably cannot identify, these user accounts which you currently cannot name, and the control taking place - which you just cannot see.

Makes perfect sense to me!

Good Luck With The Site Repair!
I hope it is natural causes. Doesn't look like anyone is fiddling with the site-US Gov/UK Gov. So don't anyone worry. I'm Sure our producer knows what he is doing.
Some people do seem to fly off at the deep-end. Expected on conspiracy sites, i guess. Was once a member of a couple of sites which were under gov watchers. These people always leave tell tale clues. It began with posters who seemed to have access to things like intelligence reports and police files on people; Stuff which looked public domain, but, under examination wasn't.
The next thing that went down was people hijacked personal messages to other members ,falsely pretending to be one identity and leaving virus and worse infections-cameras ,.ect.
Finally, some were thought to have been recruited as agents,to spy on other members.Though this was thought because one guy , a weird loner , claimed to have become a Gov agent over the forum. Most of us thought it was his fantasy, sad as it was. The guy said he was sorry and killed himself the next day. His twin went to jail the following month for a string of crimes and was sent to a mental institution for life where he died of gangrene.
This led to silly speculation as usual, over the internet. Some sickos thought that they were killed and such rubbish. It did turn out that the site was spied on. That is why i prefer sites run wisely like this forum with sensible moderators who keep a benevolent eye on things.
I am starting to feel at home on this site and would like to reassure people from this story-nothing is happening like that here. We are safe! Nobody has had any accounts tampered with as can be seen by running independent searches. All is as was before this little bump.
Thanks Sean:p

whew..I thought I was the only one being monitored...

I was able to login and view some of the pages, but some just came up blank

As an interesting side note,No matter how many times I clear out my cookies (cc cleaner,I have it set for 7 passes and most everything gets erased) but only here,do I stay perma-logged in,I dont think I have actually had to enter my password but twice since I registered here, whats up with that?

sean
22-09-2007, 03:51 AM
Have you clicked the box "keep me logged in" ?

It's a simple cookie, which should delete itself once you close your browser or logout. Unless you've enabled "keep me logged in".

And for everyone's information - our mysql database became locked, causing apache to hang. The illuminati didn't do their background maintenance as has been suggested. That happens on Sunday night. Der.

I think this off topic discussion is synchronized as to who/what was at fault for bringing the website down (a little).

Sean fixing this forum up against the illuminati, is like a slap in the face to the scarlet pimpanell. It's like doing a slam dunk on Michael Jordan in his prime.

You so owed them Sean.

In the case of 'Pan's Labyrinth', it's the English name for the Spanish movie which has a different title. Why they picked that to be the English name for the title is unknown. It could be important. It could be not important.

In the movie, the name of one of the main characters is faun, which is the roman version of the greek pan, you may check out what I have written in the above link.

OH! Ok, last night (dutch time) I couldn 't view any forums without "downloading the phpdata file". I was kinda confussed myself. Then I tryed to read the latest news, and it told me there was a SQL problem. So I restarted my browser, and I could get onto the latest news, but I still had to download the phpdata file to go onto the forum.

Pan is a singular person/creature in Greek mythology. A faun is a type of creature in Roman. There's a big difference.

According to lime's link, faunus and pan are the same. The movie suggests this as well, however I have not looked at any other references regarding this.

Most of the roman deities have been taken from egyptian deities and greek deities, where most of their deities have been taken from egypt as well.

I was on the phone with dondaz this morning, both of us have been getting system lock up and the systems going into dump mode, that's when it does not do a total crash. This happens every other day or just for a few hours, just when you think it's sorted and you have fix any ploblems ( faults you can not find) and alls running well for a few days, crash it all starts up again.

In the movie, the girl asks his name. He responds along the line of: "I have many names. Old." "I am a faun".

Also in the bonus section interview with the director, he says it is not Pan, and if I heard right he mentions the origin of 'fauns' are Phoenician. So we get it from the horse's mouth unless the director is deliberately misleading.

Yes, that would make sense! It ties in with the rest of the info that I've read so far, although I haven't read much.
