JERUSALEM — A UN report on Israel's 22-day offensive against Hamas-controlled Gaza is anti-Semitic, an Israeli government minister said, as the Jewish state prepares to formally respond to its allegations of war crimes.

"The Goldstone Report ... and similar reports, are simply a type of anti-Semitism," Diaspora and Information Minister Yuli Edelstein told the YNet news agency ahead of a trip to New York, where he will present Israel's rebuttal on Thursday.

YNet's report suggested the Israeli leadership is planning an all-out attack on the report to coincide with Wednesday's anniversary of the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz. More . . . (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gXlzTQaiB-PiwHtYxlprhknJMW2g)

Which is the greater crime?

Disliking Jews because of their corrupt practices (anti-Semitism) or the wholesale massacre of Arabs for their ethnicity and locality (genocide.)

Jewish racism and intolerance of 'Gentiles' is the root cause of so-called "anti-Semitism."

Literally, the word 'Semite' does not only mean Jews but any people of a certain language region so the Arabic Arabs are also Semitic. Although the word has become socially influenced to become just "Jewish", theoretically, if Israel projects more violence and hardship towards Arabs then they receive, then Israel is more anti-semitic than anyone else...

but I guess everyone uses the altered usage of that word so my statement won't be taken seriously.

I think there is a great danger in that any observance of Israel's actions can be confronted by the "anti-semitic" reply. This automatic defense mechanism puts anyone attacking Israel's actions into a box labeled 'anti-semitic' and the implied attachment is that these people who say anything against Israel are like Nazis.

This is a very dangerous situation and essentially a psychological manipulation(whether intentional or spontaneous).

I would hope most self-observant and deep thinking Jewish people would see the actions of Israel should be questioned but unfortunately the blinding habit of humans to stick with their groups and avoid looking at the bad side of their group often prevails.

Exactly, it's their last(false) card, drop it everytime they lack tangible arguments.

There are many Jews who denounce Israel, I've seen a few demonstrations in NY, but MSM ignores it for some "odd" reason ;)

I don't doubt that when Hamas and other Palestinian groups are criticised they also make accusations of Islamophobia. Both sides are the victims, playing the victim card, I doubt that so many victims have ever been kicking the crap more out of each other and causing crap everywhere else than the Israelis and the Palestinians. Never mind walls dividing Israel and Palestine, lets build a bid wall a round the middle east, Muslims, Jews, the lot, and get on with our lives and leave the medieval people to do what they have always done.

That is a very short sighted view.
We, the west collectively cause the palestine problems, in that we further feed the war machinery with money and arms.

It is just the small matter of fact, that the medieval folk down there have long much more waken up to the facts.

One cannot obviously reference enough to the 'naughty terrorists'

Israel says 2009 record year for anti-semitism

Jan 24, 2010 6:42 PM | By Sapa-AFP

Israel said that 2009 was a record year for acts of anti-Semitism across the world, which were mainly sparked by its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip a year ago.

"2009 was the year where the largest number of anti-Semitic incidents was recorded," said a governmental report published ahead of the January 27 International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"With the start of the operation, a wave of acts of anti-Semitism started across the world," it said of Israel's Operation Cast Lead in December 2008 and January 2009, during which some 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed.

But the report also considered as anti-Semitic acts that sought to "delegitimise" Israel, including some protests against Israeli policies.

So castigation because genocide is committed by Israel is now labelled as 'anti-semitism'? Typical arrogant, ignorant Israel..assumes the rest of the world will just turn morality upside down upon demand.

I believe "Anti-semitism" should be scrapped and replaced by "Judeophobia".

Also, it is funny how on this "World Jewish Congress" website, where they have the article "Anti-Semitism at highest level since World War II, says Jewish Agency", there is a poll posing the question:
"Has anti-Semitism increased or decreased in your area in recent years?"

For which the results are:
There has been a rise in anti-Semitism where I live. 42%
It is more or less unchanged. 34%
Anti-Semitism has decreased in my area.7%
There is no anti-Semitism where I live. 17%

Meaning 58% of respondents think anti-Semitism is has decreased, stayed the same, or is non-existent where they live compared to 42% who think it's gone up. Which makes their article look like a bunch of hysteria-inducing propaganda.

I voted to say that in my area there is no anti-semitism. Which there isn't. My name probably just popped up on an ADL computer in a list of "Subversive, Anti-Semitic Goyim". Awaiting MOSSAD swat team to come through window.

I think it is very much a case of "the boy who cried wolf", they keep on saying this when their wrongs and crimes are exposed. One day when a true anti-"Semite" shows up nobody is going to believe them because of their child like "they are bullying me" defence mechanism.
