Remembering when this country had real statesmen in charge...

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world...avoid the necessity of those overgrown military establishments, which, under any form of government, are inauspicious to liberty, and which are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican Liberty."

"The habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism."

"If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit which the use can at any time yield."

-- Immortal words from the only President named George who ever made any sense. Thank you, President Washington.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence – economic, political, even spiritual – is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

-- More immortal words from America's last patriotic and thoughtful Republican President, President Dwight Eisenhower's Farewell Address

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note to the so-called "opposition political party" in the United States: yes, that means you Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and the rest of you "elected" flaccid and anemic opposition political leaders who shamefully shrink daily from your oaths of office -- if Presidents Washington and Eisenhower were alive today, it is not the Bush-Cheney neo-con regime that would be condemned first by these two Presidents and Generals. It is you -- the opposition -- who allowed these dangerous criminals to achieve the dictatorial powers they now use to abuse and threaten Americans and foreigners alike. Shame on you Democratic "opposition" leaders and eternal condemnation of the neo-con Fifth Columnists and quislings who have taken the United States to the brink of disaster.

Big Brother is shouting at you

Big Brother is not only watching you - now he's barking orders too.
Britain's first 'talking' CCTV cameras have arrived, publicly berating bad
behaviour and shaming offenders into acting more responsibly.

The system allows control room operators who spot any anti-social acts -
from dropping litter to late-night brawls - to send out a verbal warning:
'We are watching you'.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Conspiracy-Theory-Politics/message/12887

Middlesbrough has fitted loudspeakers on seven of its 158 cameras in an
experiment already being hailed as a success. Jack Bonner, who manages the
system, said: 'It is one hell of a deterrent. It's one thing to know that
there are CCTV cameras about, but it's quite another when they loudly point
out what you have just done wrong.

'Most people are so ashamed and embarrassed at being caught they quickly
slink off without further trouble.

'There was one incident when two men started fighting outside a nightclub.
One of the control room operators warned them over the loudspeakers and they looked up, startled, stopped fighting and scarpered in opposite directions.

'This isn't about keeping tabs on people, it's about making the streets
safer for the law-abiding majority and helping to change the attitudes of
those who cause trouble. It challenges unacceptable behaviour and makes
people think twice.'

The Mail on Sunday watched as a cyclist riding through a pedestrian area was
ordered to stop.

'Would the young man on the bike please get off and walk as he is riding in
a pedestrian area,' came the command.

The surprised youth stopped, and looked about. A look of horror spread
across his face as he realised the voice was referring to him.
He dismounted and wheeled his bike through the crowded streets, as
instructed.

Law-abiding shopper Karen Margery, 40, was shocked to hear the speakers
spring into action as she walked past them.

Afterwards she said: 'It's quite scary to realise that your every move could
be monitored - it really is like Big Brother.

'But Middlesbrough does have a big problem with anti-social behaviour, so it
is very reassuring.'

The scheme has been introduced by Middlesbrough mayor Ray Mallon, a former police superintendent who was dubbed Robocop for pioneering the
zero-tolerance approach to crime.

He believes the talking cameras will dramatically cut not just anti-social
behaviour, but violent crime, too.

And if the city centre scheme proves a success, it will be extended into
residential areas.

The control room operators have been given strict guidelines about what
commands they can give. Yelling 'Oi you, stop that', is not permitted.

Instead, their instructions make the following suggestions: 'Warning - you
are being monitored by CCTV - Warning - you are in an alcohol-free zone,
please refrain from drinking'; and Warning - your behaviour is being
monitored by CCTV. It is being recorded and the police are attending.'

Mr Bonner said: 'We always make the requests polite, and if the offender
obeys, the operator adds 'thank you'. We think that's a nice finishing
touch.

'It would appear that the offenders are the only ones who find the audio
cameras intrusive. The vast majority of people welcome these cameras.

'Put it this way, we never have requests to remove them.'
But civil rights campaigners have argued that the talking cameras are no
'magic bullet', in the fight against crime.

Liberty spokesman Doug Jewell said: 'None of us likes litterbugs or yobs
playing up on a Saturday night, but talking CCTV cameras are no substitute
for police officers on the beat.'

The Georgia Guidestones

On one of the highest hilltops in Elberton County, Georgia stands a huge granite monument, which I will henceforth refer to as "the thing". Engraved in eight different languages on the four giant stones that support the common capstone are "10 Guides". That monument is alternately referred to as the "Georgia Guidestones", the "American Stonehenge", or more appropriately - "the thing", which is what I call this gargantuan pile of rocks. Though relatively unknown to most people, it is an important link to the Occult Hierarchy, which dominates the world in which we live today.

The origin of this strange monument is shrouded in mystery, because no one knows the true identity of the man or men who commissioned its construction. All that is known is that in June, 1979, a well-dressed and very articulate stranger visited the offices of the "Elberton Granite Finishing Company" and explained that he wanted to build an edifice to "transmit a message to mankind". He identified himself as "R. C. Christian," but it soon became apparent that this surname was not his real name.

He said that he represented a group of men who wanted to offer direction to humanity, but to date, no one knows who "R. C. Christian" really is, or the names of the group of men he represented. Several things are apparent. The messages engraved on the Georgia Guidestones deal with four major fields: (1) Governance and the establishment of a world government, (2) Population and reproduction control, (3) The environment and man's relationship to nature, and (4) Spirituality.

"The Thing" is located on the farm of Wayne and Mildred Mullenix on Georgia State Highway 77 - 7.2 miles North of Elberton Georgia - 1.3 miles South of the Hart-Elbert County Line and 7.8 miles South of Hartwell Georgia.

Here are the dimensions listed in the brochure ---

Overall Height: 19 feet, 3 inches

Amount of Granite: 951 cubic feet

Weight: 237,746 pounds - About 119 tons

Four Upright Stones: 6 feet, 6 inches wide - 16 feet, 4 inches high - 1 foot, 7 inches thick

About 42,437 pounds each - 169,750 pounds total

One Center Stone - The "Gnomen" Stone:
1 foot, 7 inches thick
20,957 pounds

One "Cap" Stone:
6 feet, 6 inches wide
9 feet, 8 inches long
1 foot, 7 inches thick
24,832 pounds

Four "Support" Stone Bases
7 feet, 4 inches long
2 feet, 0 inches wide
1 foot, 4 inches thick
About 4,875 pounds each - 19,500 pounds total

One "Support" Stone Base
4 feet, 2 1/2 inches long
2 feet, 2 inches wide
1 foot, 7 inches thick
2,707 pounds

Lettering - over 4,000 sandblasted characters, each about 4 inches high.

The four large upright blocks pointing outward are oriented to the limits of the migration of the moon during the course of the year.

An eye-level, oblique hole is drilled from the South to the North side of the center, Gnomen stone, so that the North Star is always visible, symbolizing constancy and orientation with the forces of nature.

The hole that you see in the stone was drilled in the Center Stone, so that the North Star could be visualized through it. This was one of several requirements stipulated by "R.C. Christian" for the building of the American Stonehenge and reflects his obsession with the alignment of the stars, sun and moon.

A slot is cut in the middle of the "Gnomen" stone to form a window which aligns with the positions of the rising sun at the Summer and Winter Solstices and at the Equinox, so that the noon sun shines to indicate noon on a curved line.

The cap stone includes a calendar of sorts, where sunlight beams through a 7/8 inch hole at noon and shines on the South face of the center stone. As the sun makes its travel cycle, the spot beamed through the hole can tell the day of the year at noon each day. Allowances are made because of variations between standard time and sun time to set the beam of sunlight at an equation of time.

The site was chosen because it commands a view to the East and to the West and is within the range of the Summer and Winter sunrises and sunsets. The stones are oriented in those directions.

The Guides Explained ---

A massive granite monument espousing the conservation of mankind and future generations. Sources for the sizable financing of the project choose to remain anonymous. The wording of the message proclaimed on the monument is in "12" languages - including the archaic languages of Sanskrit, Babylonian Cuneiform, Egyptian Hieroglyphics and Classical Greek - as well as in English, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Spanish and Swahili.

The guides, followed by explanatory precepts, are as follows. The words are exactly as the "sponsors" provided them:

1. *Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

(Means the entire human race at its climax level for permanent balance with nature).

2. *Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.

(Without going into details as yet undiscovered, this means humanity should apply reason and knowledge to guiding its own reproduction. "Fitness" could be translated as "health". "Diversity" could be translated as "variety").

3. *Unite humanity with a living new language.

(A "living" language grows and changes with advancing knowledge. A "new" language will be developed "de novo" - and need not necessarily be adopted from any languages now in existence).

4. *Rule Passion - Faith - Tradition - and all things with tempered reason.

("Faith" here may be used in a religious sense. Too often people are ruled by blind faith, even when it may be contrary to reason. Reason must be tempered with compassion here - but must prevail).

5. *Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

(Courts must consider justice as well as law).

6. *Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

(Individual nations must be free to develop their own destinies at home as their own people wish - but cannot abuse their neighbors).

7. *Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

(Self-explanatory).

8. *Balance personal rights with social duties.

(Individuals have a natural concern for their personal welfare, but man is a social animal and must also be concerned for the group. Failure of society means failure for its individual citizens).

9. *Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.

(The infinite here means the supreme being - whose will is manifest in the working of the cosmos - if we will seek for it).

10. *Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

(In our time, the growth of humanity is destroying the natural conditions of the earth, which have fostered all existing life. We must restore reasoned balance).

How "The Thing" Got To Elberton ---

Elberton Granite's reputation as one of the world's best monumental stones, Elbert County's geographic location, and fate seem to be key elements in why one of the nation's most unusual monuments was unveiled near Elberton, March 22, 1980. Already called "America's Stonehenge", after the mysterious monuments in England which have puzzled men for ages, THE GEORGIA GUIDESTONES has attracted nationwide publicity and promises to become a major tourist attraction.

Overwhelming in size and steeped in enigma, the GUIDESTONES was revealed to the nation in the Winter, 1979, ELBERTON GRANITEER -- and is as much a mystery now as it was then -- and probably still will be when man ceases to record his history. The gargantuan, six-piece monument stands 19-ft. high in the beautiful hill country eight miles north of Elberton and proclaims a message for the conservation of mankind. Its origins and sponsors are unknown; hence, the mystery.

Challenging Project ---

The components were manufactured from ELBERTON GRANITE FINISHING COMPANY, INC.'s "Pyramid Blue Granite", and the firm's President, Joe H. Fendley, Sr., said the project was one of the most challenging ever for his quarrying and monument manufacturing concern - partly because of the magnitude of the materials and partly because of the exacting specifications from the mysterious group of sponsors, "and those specifications were so precise that they had to be compiled by experts on stone as well as construction", said Fendley.

He said it all began late on a Friday afternoon in June 1979, when a well dressed and articulate man walked into his office on the Tate Street Extension in Elberton and wanted to know the cost of building a large monument to conservation. He identified himself as "Mr. Christian". He told Fendley that he represented a small group of loyal Americans living outside Georgia who wished to remain anonymous forever and that he chose the name "Christian" because he was a Christian. He inquired where Fendley banked and Joe put him in touch with both local banks. Wyatt C. Martin, President of the Granite City Bank, was selected by "Mr. Christian" to be the intermediary for the mysterious project.

According to Mr. Martin, the man showed up at his office 30 minutes later, explained the project and said after completion that he hoped other conservation-minded groups would erect even more stones in an outer ring and carry the monuments message in more languages. He told Martin that he wanted the monument erected in a remote area away from the main tourist centers. The gentleman also said that Georgia was selected because of the availability of excellent granite, generally mild climate and the fact that his great-grandmother was a native Georgian.

Elberton County Chosen ---

Martin persuaded the mystery man that Elberton County was the ideal location for the memorial; and he agreed, provided a suitable location could be found. He returned later and he and Martin inspected sites. "Mr. Christian", who now called himself "R. C. Christian", chose a five-acre plot on the farm of contractor Wayne Mullenix. It is the highest point in Elberton County. A few weeks later, Martin contacted Joe Findley and told him that funds for the project were in an escrow account and to start work immediately. Martin promised that when the project was completed, he would deliver his file on the affair to the anonymous sponsors and that the secret would never be known.

He said that Mr. "Christian" told him that the sponsors had planned the monument for years and that the ten "guides" for the conservation of mankind and the earth were carefully worded as a moralistic appeal to all peoples of nationality, religion, or politics.

The guides are brief maxims espousing population control and other "conservation" messages. They are inscribed in eight different languages on four huge stones set in a paddle wheel arrangement, with the center stone carved and drilled so that the sun will mark the time of day and the seasons.

The guides, which were accompanied by ten explanatory precepts in the specifications are: (1) "Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature; (2) Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity; (3) Unite humanity with a living new language; (4) Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason; (5) Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts; (6) Let all nations rule internally, resolving external disputes in a world court; (7) Avoid petty laws and useless officials; (8) Balance personal rights with social duties; (9)Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite; (10) Be not a cancer on the earth - leave room for nature - leave room for nature."

My Opinion ---

I do not believe that there is much of a "mystery" here. If you conduct a little research about the "BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSY CROSS" and the "ROSICRUCIAN ORDER", you will see why the mysterious gentleman in the preceding story called himself "R. C. Christian". The selection of "Pyramid Blue Granite" will also start to make a lot of sense.

The US headquarters for the Rosicrucians is San Jose, California. Call them and order some of their literature. They are not Bible-believing Christians in the sense that I am. In other words, they do not believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became a man and died for our sins. If you look up their order in an encyclopedia of freemasonry, you can get a feel for their belief system. I think that the only "mystery" is the fact that the sponsors belong to this paganistic "mystery religion" of Babylon.

With regard to the "guides" sandblasted into this pile of rocks, they are a frightening outline of what these people have planned for our future.

The "message" of the Georgia Guidestones foreshadows the current drive for Sustainable Development. Any time you hear the phrase "Sustainable Development" used, you should substitute the term "socialism" for it, in order to fully understand what is intended by Mr. "Christian" and his anonymous cronies. If you look up the text of the "Earth Charter", compiled under the direction of Mikhail Gorbachev and Maurice Strong, you will see striking similarities to the maxims inscribed on the "American Stonehenge".

In that document you will find an emphasis on the same basic issues: (1) control of reproduction, (2) world governance, (3) the importance of nature and the environment and (4) a "new" spirituality. The similarity between the ideas engraved on the Georgia Guidestones and those espoused in the Earth Charter reflect the common origins of both.

Yoko Ono, widow of ex-Beatle John Lennon (known for being as eccentric, outspoken and as tragically misinformed as her late husband) was recently quoted as referring to this abomination, inappropriately nicknamed the "American Stonehenge", saying ...

"I want people to know about the stones ... We're headed toward a world where we might blow ourselves up and maybe the globe will not exist ... it's a nice time to re-affirm ourselves, knowing all the beautiful things that are in this country, and the Georgia Stones symbolize that."

What is the true significance of this "American Stonehenge" and why is its covert message so important? Because it confirms the fact that there was a covert group intent on ...

1. Dramatically reducing the population of the world.
2. Promoting environmentalism.
3. Establishing a world government.
4. Promoting a new spirituality.

Certainly the group that commissioned the Georgia Guidestones is one of many similar groups working together toward a New World Order, a new world economic system and a new world spirituality. Behind those groups, however, are very dark spiritual forces. Without understanding the nature of those dark forces, it is virtually impossible to understand the unfolding of world events.

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

If the upper limit for humanity is 500,000,000, that means that over 90% of us have to go! I say this because there are now over 5 billion of us "useless eaters", or "canon fodder", or "human weeds", or "sheeple", or whatever else they want to call us, roaming around taking up space and acting as a "cancer on the earth".

Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.

Apparently, since these world leaders and planners think of us as cattle, they will make it their job to use animal husbandry techniques on us and control our reproduction. In other words, they will dictate to us how many children we will be allowed to have. They will determine who is fit enough to live, and who must die.

Unite humanity with a living new language.

They already have one. I believe it is called symbology. It can be seen everywhere, from the currency in our pocket to the street layout and architecture of our nation's capitol, from the logo of the television network that we are watching to the advertising billboard along the highway that we drive on every day. It is an old language. It can be spoken, but it is silent as well.

Rule Passion - Faith - Tradition - and all things with tempered reason.

Oops!! So much for Biblical Christianity!

Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

Who makes the laws and defines justice? An elected body, or an appointed one? Perhaps lour "pals" in the United Nations?

Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

It sounds like the United Nations again. The court must have its enforcement arm, so I guess that is where our sons and daughters will be assigned after they put the blue helmet cover over their olive drab green helmet and slip the blue arm band over their United States uniform. That is what I call protecting and defending the Constitution for the United States of America from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

Who are they trying to fool? These are the people who make the petty laws that are burying us! And the useless official that they would get rid of, would probably be an official like the local county sheriff. The very official who might be able to protect us from them and their federal police state!

Balance personal rights with social duties.

I thought that that was what the Constitution for the United States of America and the Bill of Rights was for. Without personal rights, there is only the police state. The state only exists on paper. The state controls the individual. The individuals who control the state, control the individual unless the individual is protected from the state by the rule of law, in our case, the Constitution for the United States of America. That is our government, not the politicians who are supposed to be the trustees of our government! Without our constitutional representative republic, we have only democracy. And democracy is nothing more than mob rule. In a democracy, if the majority votes that you are not human, you are not human. You do not have the right to live if the mob so dictates. But in our constitutional representative republic, the individual is protected from the mob (unless the individual lives in United States territory and not one of the several states - see Article 1, Section 8, Clauses 17 and 18 of the Constitution for the United States of America).

Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.

The infinite? Who are they talking about? The one who created us? The one they think is responsible for making the judgment error in creating beings that do not know when to control their own rate of reproduction? The one who created a "cancer on the earth"? I am confused! This infinite one that they want me to seek harmony with does not seem like anyone that I would want to emulate!

Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

Just so you understand - the guidestones have this sandblasted into them twice, just as I have indicated above! I guess they really want us to leave now - to leave now, and fertilize the earth - and fertilize the earth. Apparently the "sponsors" feel that that is all that we are ultimately good for.

Postscript ---

By the way, the definition of a "Gnomen" stone just means a sundial or indicating instrument. However, I have usually seen it spelled "gnomon", but it is their stone and they paid for it, so I guess they can call it anything that they want, with whatever spelling they so choose.

"De novo" is just Latin for "from new". These people love Latin.

In the public library in Elberton, I found a book written by the man who called himself "R.C. Christian." I discovered that the monument he commissioned had been erected in recognition of Thomas Paine and the occult philosophy he espoused. Indeed, the Georgia Guidestones are used for occult ceremonies and mystic celebrations to this very day.

Tragically, only one religious leader in the area had the courage to speak out against the "American Stonehenge," and he has recently relocated his ministry.

On the Texe Marrs shortwave radio program "World of Prophesy" that aired on WWCR on Saturday, February 14th, 1998, Texe said that when he visited Elberton, a gentleman in town indicated that all of the men involved with the "mystery group" were freemasons. Gee ... I didn't see that one coming. Of course they are freemasons!

When I visited the site with my friends, I did not check for any freemasons. However, I did notice a new age, forty something, dockers wearing, suburban housewife looking, mantra chanting while sitting in the lotus position, Marxist sounding, woman while I was there. My friend and I were in the gravel parking area over 100 feet away from her and "the thing". We were speaking with three other visitors that we had met there, when she exited the astral plain, sauntered up, and informed us that we were standing on "sacred ground" and that some people were trying to meditate. At that time, it was just the woman and us. Unfortunately for her, just as she was glaring at us, a station wagon full of Mennonites pulled up and when the doors opened, it was obvious to all of us that the man and woman in the front seat had not "guided their reproduction wisely". However, the smaller Mennonites exiting the vehicle did seem to be very "fit" and even a little "diverse". Some were male, some female, some stocky, some slender, some short, and some tall. At that point, our "age of Aquarius" acquaintance decided that she was outnumbered. She retreated to her rock pile and did her best to tune us out, as she was surrounded by frolicking Mennonite children having a good time playing in the great outdoors.

You have to understand, "the thing" is out in the middle of nowhere. There are acres and acres of farmland surrounding it. There are not many visitors. It was really windy that day and we were upwind of "the meditator" and not making that much noise. We were just five adults speaking to one another.

One other ironic thing happened when we were visiting "the thing". Two women drove up and got out of their vehicle. One of them was holding a five-month-old baby. The other woman asked me to take their picture as they stood under the rock with the "guides" sandblasted in English. I obliged and made sure that all ten of the "guides" were framed in their photograph. As I handed the camera back to the woman, I asked her what she thought of the "guides", especially the first and second ones. She looked up and read them. As she turned back to me, she smiled and said "Oh yes! Very nice!".

And that, fellow sheeple, is why these "mysterious sponsors" and their Marxist-socialist ilk, put this kind of psycho-political, mind-control garbage out in plain view for us to see. They enjoy the irony of scenes like the ones that I just described. The very people who they intend to *destroy*, spending time and money traveling to a "tourist attraction", which is ultimately the tombstone for themselves and their children - and they think that it's "nice" and "pretty"???

I know not your read on "channeling", I have recently been enlightened on distinguishing those with weight and measure, having voiced this, I offer up:

"MOVING BEYOND RELIGION INTO SPIRITUALITY"
Transmitted Through Ronna Herman

Beloved masters, the winds of change are blowing strongly within your inner and outer worlds, and you often feel you are being tumbled about by the winds of fate. You are being bombarded with so much new information that your body and brain are in overload. Everything is changing so rapidly in your world that you can no longer depend on what was considered to be the "norm," and there is such a plethora of new information that it is difficult to know what to believe. Old concepts are being updated and the philosophies of the Eastern and Western worlds are blending as higher expanded truths are being presented for your learning as humanity strives to become spiritual adults and masters of their destiny.

There are many paths to en-LIGHTEN-ment and many variations and levels of the truth; however, the universal laws and Creator truth are immutable. There are essential truths in every religion, and if you strip away the dogma, man-made superstitions and limitations, you will find they all contain more similarities than differences. Instead of criticizing or condemning the beliefs of others, would it not be better to seek a common ground of understanding? The majority of humanity does not have a clue about the origins or major beliefs of other religions, and yet there is condemnation of all beliefs that are not one's own. The core cause of all the wars of the past and the wars that are presently raging around the world are based on conflicting religious beliefs. How sad and how futile. There can be no winners; everyone loses in the rage and fury for supremacy that is rampant on Earth.

I have asked my messenger to research and give you a condensed synopsis of some of the similarities and the differences between the Eastern and the Western world views, as well as a condensed overview of the major religions of the world, past and present. It is important that you understand the customs and beliefs of your brothers and sisters around the world if you are to move forward on the path of reunification and harmony. Humanity is gradually moving beyond the narrow concept of isolationism and secular "religion" into the expanded and cohesive truth of spirituality whereby you turn inward and connect to your own Divine Source for Creator truth and universal laws to guide you, instead of turning to someone you think is more knowledgeable and powerful than you.

In the past, humanity has been mostly of a "herd-state" mentality, and it has been a common practice to follow the man-made religious laws as defined by others: dogmatic beliefs or superstitions which were/are often steeped in fear.

It had been a rough day, so when I walked into the party I was
very chalant, despite my efforts to appear gruntled and
consolate.

I was furling my wieldy umbrella for the coat check when I saw
her standing alone in a corner. She was a descript person, a
woman in a state of total array. Her hair was kempt, her
clothing shevelled, and she moved in a gainly way.

I wanted desperately to meet her, but I knew I'd have to make
bones about it since I was travelling cognito. Beknownst to me,
the hostess, whom I could see both hide and hair of, was very
proper, so it would be skin off my nose if anything bad
happened. And even though I had only swerving loyalty to her, my manners
couldn't be peccable. Only toward and heard-of behavior would
do.

Fortunately, the embarrassment that my maculate appearance might
cause was evitable. There were two ways about it, but the
chances that someone as flappable as I would be ept enough to
become persona grata or a sung hero were slim. I was, after all,
something to sneeze at, someone you could easily hold a candle
to, someone who usually aroused bridled passion.

So I decided not to risk it. But then, all at once, for some
apparent reason, she looked in my direction and smiled in a way
that I could make heads or tails of.

I was plussed. It was concerting to see that she was
communicado, and it nerved me that she was interested in a
pareil like me, sight seen. Normally, I had a domitable spirit, but,
being corrigible, I felt capacitated--as if this were something
I was great shakes at-- and forgot that I had succeeded in
situations like this only a told number of times. So, after a
terminable delay, I acted with mitigated gall and made my way
through the ruly crowd with strong givings.

Nevertheless, since this was all new hat to me and I had no time
to prepare a promptu speech, I was petuous. Wanting to make only
called-for remarks, I started talking about the hors d'oeuvres,
trying to abuse her of the notion that I was sipid, and perhaps
even bunk a few myths about myself.

She responded well, and I was mayed that she considered me a
savory character who was up to some good. She told me who she
was. "What a perfect nomer," I said, advertently.

The conversation become more and more choate, and we spoke at
length to much avail. But I was defatigable, so I had to leave
at a godly hour. I asked if she wanted to come with me.

To my delight, she was committal. We left the party together and
have been together ever since. I have given her my love, and she
has requited it.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
-
by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out
she was dying from cancer)

I would go to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would burn the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would talk less and listened more.

I would invite friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would eat the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would take the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would share more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never insist the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would sit on the lawn and never worry about the grass stains.

I would cry and laugh less while watching television and cry and laugh more while watching life.

I would never buy anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I would cherish every moment and realize that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never say, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would be more "I love you's."
More "I'm sorry's."

But mostly, given another shot at life,
I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it.
Live it and never give it back.
Stop sweating the small stuff.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you,
Don't worry about who has more, or
Don't worry about who's doing what
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us. Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with.
And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally.

I hope you all have a blessed day.

The Wild and Free Pigs of the Okefenokee Swamp

Some years ago, about 1900, an old trapper from North Dakota hitched up some horses to his Studebaker wagon, packed a few possessions -- especially his traps -- and drove south.

Several weeks later he stopped in a small town just north of the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia.

It was a Saturday morning -- a lazy day -- when he walked into the general store. Sitting around the pot-bellied stove were seven or eight of the town's local citizens.

The traveler spoke. "Gentlemen, could you direct me to the Okefenokee Swamp?"

Some of the oldtimers looked at him like he was crazy. "You must be a stranger in these parts," they said.

"I am. I'm from North Dakota," said the stranger.

"In the Okefenokee Swamp are thousands of wild hogs." one old man explained. "A man who goes into the swamp by himself asks to die!" He
lifted up his leg. "I lost half my leg here, to the pigs of the swamp."

Another old fellow said, "Look at the cuts on me; look at my arm bit off! Those pigs have been free since the Revolution, eating snakes and rooting out roots and fending for themselves for over a hundred years. They're wild and they're dangerous. You can't trap them. No man dare go into the swamp by himself. "Every man nodded his head in agreement.

The old trapper said, "Thank you so much for the warning. Now could you direct me to the swamp?"

They said, "Well, yeah, it's due south -- straight down the road."

But they begged the stranger not to go, because they knew he'd meet a terrible fate.

He said, "Sell me ten sacks of corn, and help me load it in the wagon." And they did. Then the old trapper bid them farewell and drove on down the road. The townsfolk thought they'd never see him again.

Two weeks later the man came back. He pulled up to the general store, got down off the wagon, walked in and bought ten more sacks of corn. After loading it up he went back down the road toward the swamp.

Two weeks later he returned and again bought ten sacks of corn.

This went on for a month. And then two months, and three. Every week or two the old trapper would come into town on a Saturday morning, load up ten sacks of corn, and drive off south into the swamp.

The stranger soon became a legend in the little village and the subject of much speculation. People wondered what kind of devil had possessed this man, that he could go into the Okefenokee by himself and not be consumed by the wild and free hogs.

One morning the man came into town as usual. Everyone thought he wanted more corn. He got off the wagon and went into the store where the usual group of men were gathered around the stove. He took off his gloves.

"Gentlemen," he said, "I need to hire about ten or fifteen wagons. I need twenty or thirty men. I have six thousand hogs out in the swamp, penned up, and they're all hungry. I've got to get them to market right away."

"You've WHAT in the swamp?" asked the storekeeper, incredulously.

"I have six thousand hogs penned up. They haven't eaten for two or three days, and they'll starve if I don't get back there to feed and take care of them."

One of the oldtimers said, "You mean you've captured the wild hogs of the Okefenokee?"

"That's right."

"How did you do that? What did you do?" the men urged, breathlessly.

One of them exclaimed, "But I lost my arm!"

"I lost my brother!" cried another.

"I lost my leg to those wild boars!" chimed a third.

The trapper said, "Well, the first week I went in there they were wild all right. They hid in the undergrowth and wouldn't come out. I dared not get off the wagon. So I spread corn along behind the wagon. Every day I'd spread a sack of corn. The old pigs would have nothing to do with it."

"But the younger pigs decided that it was easier to eat free corn than it was to root out roots and catch snakes. So the very young began to eat the corn first. I did this every day. Pretty soon, even the old pigs decided
that it was easier to eat free corn. After all, they were all free; they were not penned up. They could run off in any direction they wanted at any time."

"The next thing was to get them used to eating in the same place all the time. So I selected a clearing, and I started putting the corn in the clearing. At first they wouldn't come to the clearing. It was too far. It was too open. It was a nuisance to them."

"But the very young decided that it was easier to take the corn in the clearing than it was to root out roots and catch their own snakes. And not long thereafter, the older pigs also decided that it was easier to come to the clearing every day."

"And so the pigs learned to come to the clearing every day to get their free corn. They could still subsidize their diet with roots and snakes and whatever else they wanted. After all, they were all free. They could run in any direction at any time. There were no bounds upon them."

"The next step was to get them used to fence posts. So I put fence posts all the way around the clearing. I put them in the underbrush so that they wouldn't get suspicious or upset. After all, they were just sticks sticking
up out of the ground, like the trees and the brush.

The corn was there every day. It was easy to walk in between the posts, get the corn, and walk back out."

"This went on for a week or two. Shortly they became very used to walking into the clearing, getting the free corn, and walking back out through the fence posts."

"The next step was to put one rail down at the bottom. I also left a few openings, so that the older, fatter pigs could walk through the openings and the younger pigs could easily jump over just one rail.

After all, it was no real threat to their freedom or independence. They could always jump over the rail and flee in any direction at any time."

"Now I decided that I wouldn't feed them every day. I began to feed them every other day. On the days I didn't feed them the pigs still gathered in the clearing. They squealed, and they grunted, and they begged and pleaded
with me to feed them. But I only fed them every other day. And I put a second rail around the posts."

"Now the pigs became more and more desperate for food. Because now they were no longer used to going out and digging their own roots and finding their own food. They now needed me. They needed my corn every other day. So I trained them that I would feed them every day if they came in through a gate. And I put up a third rail around the fence. But it was still no great threat to their freedom, because there were several gates and they could run
in and out at will."

"Finally I put up the fourth rail. Then I closed all the gates but one, and I fed them very, very well. Yesterday I closed the last gate.

And today I need you to help me take these pigs to market."

A PERSONAL DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
--------------------------------------

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for a person to advance from that subordination to which he or she has been subjected and to assume the equal and independent station to which the laws of nature entitle that person, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that he or she should declare the causes which impel that person to the change.

I hold these truths to be self-evident: that all people are created with equal, independent and unalienable rights; among which are the preservation of their own life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends, associations are formed among humans, deriving their just powers from the
consent of their members; that whenever any association becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of each member to secede from it, to withdraw financial and other support, and to create or join different associations which lay their foundation on such principles, and organize their powers in such form, as to their members shall seem most likely to effect their safety, enterprise and happiness.

Prudence indeed will dictate that government and other associations long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and people may be more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing or abandoning the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations reveals a design to subject people to the absolute power of a tyranny, it is their right to throw off such government or other association, and to provide new guards for their future security. Such has been the patient suffering of the undersigned; and such is now the necessity which constrains me to reject the current form of government to which I am subjected. The history of this government is a history of unremitting injuries and usurpations, among which no one fact stands single or solitary to contradict the uniform tenor of the rest; all of which have in direct purpose, the establishment of an absolute tyranny over me and my fellow citizens. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world, for the truth of which I pledge a faith, as yet unsullied by falsehood:

1. The government of the United States of America and its State subsidiaries rely upon the legalized theft called taxation to coerce citizens into contributing to activities they do not support. This has led to a lack of market discipline and the largest public debt in the history of humankind, because
those who pay for this government cannot legally say, "NO!" While this coercion has allowed short-term benefits to be created for some, this has come only at the most severe and tragic cost. This government cannot continue to expand public debt and increase taxes without widespread, catastrophic consequences. I object to the fact that my personal welfare and assumed consent are excuses this government relies upon to continue this irresponsible and destructive behavior.

2. I am forced, by this government's political laws and the police and courts that do its bidding, to contribute to a bankrupt Social Security system that is a tragic fraud. Unlike the savings and investment account I have been told it represents, it more accurately resembles a checking account, from which some people may be given benefits at my expense. None of the current extortion I am forced to pay for this system is being saved, invested, or otherwise allocated to my retirement. Instead, this government uses my involuntary contributions to pay others currently drawing benefits, while promising to continue this theft on the children and grandchildren of this generation to pay for the empty promises made for my retirement. I can no longer tolerate this injustice.

3. The collapse of organized communism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union has failed to significantly reduce the size and influence of the military-industrial-political complex. The so-called Department of "Defense" currently spends almost $600 billion per year to protect its bureaucracy, some U.S. companies and the corrupt governments of foreign nations. The annihilation of uncounted Iraqis, popularized by a propaganda campaign and level of censorship unparalleled in this country, has elevated mass murder to a new level of social acceptability. I refuse to accept the fact that my involuntary contributions to this government are used to perpetuate such an instrument of terror in the false name of "national defense."

4. The creation and expansion of a welfare state in the U.S. has brought about precisely the opposite result from that intended. Rather than help people out of poverty, it has encouraged them to remain. Rather than provide emergency funds for low-income people, most government spending in this area is received by those well above the official poverty level. Rather than job skills and opportunities, it has produced dependency and helplessness. Rather than pride of accomplishment, it has spawned civil unrest and despair. The continuation of this corrupt and fraudulent system is an affront to human dignity and a complete denial of human compassion.

5. This government has created political laws which prevent honest people from solving their problems in non-aggressive, voluntary ways. Examples include the establishment of government-protected monopolies for public services and oppressive restrictions on private enterprise and non-aggressive personal behavior. Occupational licensing and minimum wage laws, contrary to their stated purposes, protect established industries and unions from market competition, rather than consumers and most workers. No such government regulation can produce a more beneficial or fair result than the free, unregulated marketplace of human ideas and uncoerced activities.

6. The police of this government protect neither people nor their property. Instead, the primary mission of this government's police is to enforce coercive political laws which have been created at the request of powerful special interest groups. In so doing, this government's police inadvertently protect criminals, while punishing non-aggressive people. State and federal crime statistics reveal that violent and property criminals in the U.S. have less than a one-in-twenty chance of being successfully and fully prosecuted. Despite this, the United States has a larger percentage of its population in prison than China, the former Soviet Union, or South Africa. These two facts suggest that this government's police, courts and prisons exist primarily to punish those who disagree with this government; not to protect people or their property from violence or other aggression. Indeed, the most dangerous and destructive influence in the life of most U.S. citizens is the violence and aggression of this government.

7. The so-called "war on drugs" is a cure that is worse than the disease. It has changed a relatively minor health problem into a popular means for suspending the Bill of Rights (the only part of the U.S. Constitution based on individual rights); and has created violent crime where there was none before. This disastrous government activity has resulted in the expansion of the American police state and the reduction of personal freedom, responsibility and legal rights of all people who reside in the United States.

8. Despite spending more money per student than either private schools or most other countries, the U.S. system of public schools is an unmitigated disaster. As taxes and debt are increased for this coercive government "education," expectations are lowered and the current educational establishment becomes more entrenched. There cannot be quality education until teachers are required to achieve results, rather than tenure; and when teachers, students and parents play an active role in education without interference or "help" from politicians. The purpose of education is not to provide jobs for teachers and administrators, but to teach. No one should be forced to support this primitive, counterproductive system of mass obedience and indoctrination.

9. The U.S. Constitution, as the basis for statutory law in the United States, was never, and can never be, a document by which free and independent people govern themselves. There are three reasons for this:

This document is fundamentally a statement of government - not people - sovereignty.

This document was never executed as a proper contract between any humans, living or dead.

This document has been repeatedly modified to expand government power and to reduce the legal rights of individuals without their consent.

10. The U.S. Government has repeatedly created the conditions for economic, social and military crises, while using each such crisis as an excuse to expand its own power. Specific examples of this include the administration of President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, the creation of the Federal Reserve and the income tax in 1913, and the policies of President Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930's. It was the artificial expansion of the money supply by the Federal Reserve in the "roaring" 1920's that led directly to the stock market collapse in 1929. President Roosevelt's socialist agenda in the 1930's (the "New Deal") caused the Great Depression to last ten years instead of one. More recent wars, recessions, social unrest and "emergency" presidential power legislation are an extension of this consistent government expansion at the expense of the free markets which humans choose to satisfy their legitimate desires.

11. By forcing over 40 percent of the land in the United States into public ownership, this government has subsidized and encouraged the mismanagement and degradation of natural resources. Public ownership of property, as the fundamental idea behind all forms of socialism, has restricted or eliminated the natural market mechanisms which encourage humans to take care of things they own. By reducing the liability of some property owners for their adverse effects on others, this government has created the false impression that markets, and not this government, are responsible for most environmental problems today. This persistent lie must not remain unchallenged.

12. The U.S. Congress has consistently subsidized special interest groups at taxpayers' expense, while restricting the personal freedom of all Americans. This coercive, unrepresentative body of men and women holds the sole
responsibility for the suffocating public debt, oppressive taxation and ongoing budget deficits that are destroying the American economy. The fact that a small percentage of the U.S. population voted for the current members of Congress cannot begin to justify the irresponsible actions of this untrustworthy band of plunderers. I hereby declare that no congressman, senator, governor or president represents my interest in any conceivable way.

13. This government has promoted itself as a true, legitimate and representative agent of all Americans, which is an inherent contradiction and unattainable goal. Special interest politics and the fraudulent charades called elections have allowed this government to pretend it has a moral right to control the lives of those who have not consented to be governed by it. Reform of this coercive system of government is hopeless, as naive voters continue to be misled by promises of more benefits without apparent cost.

I therefore reject and renounce all allegiance and subjection to any person, association, majority, or government that I have not voluntarily and explicitly chosen as my personal representative. I assert and declare myself to be a free, sovereign and independent person, and as such I have the right to regulate my own affairs, decide which products, services, charities and causes to support; and to do all other things which independent persons may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, I pledge my life, my property, and my sacred honor.

VeriChip Admits Failure To Disclose Implant Chip Risks

By Katherine Albrecht
SpyChips.com
2-12-7

VeriChip Corporation, the much-hated purveyor of the VeriChip human ID implant, is airing its dirty laundry this week. This is not by choice, mind you, but because the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) required the company to disclose its "risk factors" prior to launching its initial public offering of stock (IPO) Friday.

The company lays out nearly 20 pages of risk factors in its Form S-1 Registration Statement, a required document for the IPO. But what the company failed to reveal in its filing may be even more eye-opening, say CASPIAN privacy advocates Dr. Katherine Albrecht and Liz McIntyre. The pair, authors of the "Spychips" series of books, have been vocal critics of VeriChip, dogging the company in recent years and facing down its senior executives on radio and national television.

"Potential investors should be told how a hacker can simply walk by a chipped person and clone his or her VeriChip signal, a threat demonstrated by security researcher Jonathan Westhues months ago," says McIntyre, who is a former federal bank examiner.

"Omitting the cloning threat from its SEC documents is a serious oversight that could affect the value of VeriChip's stock. This is materially relevant information, considering VeriChip's claim that its product could be used to tighten security in facilities like nuclear power plants," she adds.

(For more on VeriChip's vulnerability to hacking, see "The RFID Hacking Underground, ' Wired Magazine, http://www.wired. com/wired/ archive/14. 05/rfid_pr. html )

Verichip also failed to disclose to investors and the SEC that patients' VeriChip implants might not be readable in ambulances. VeriChip's chipping kit literature cautions that ambient radio waves, like those in ambulances, can interfere with the equipment that reads the implanted tags, but this important fact somehow didn't make its way into the SEC filing.

(Scanned images of VeriChip's chipping kit literature, including the ambulance caution, are available here:

http://www.spychips.com/verichip/verichip-photos-instructions.html )
<snip>
The market seemed to be catching on to some of these problems as VeriChip began offering stock Friday in a bid to raise million of dollars to fund its human chipping operations. Analysts noted a "lukewarm reaction" to the stock and that it was trading on "the low end of the expected range."

To read the VeriChip Form S-1 Registration Statement (Amendment No. 7) see:

http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1347022/000119312507024937/ds1a.htm

The VeriChip implant is a glass encapsulated RFID tag that is injected into the flesh to uniquely number and identify individuals. The tag can be read by radio waves from a few inches away. The highly controversial device is being marketed as a way to access secure areas, link to medical records, and serve as a payment instrument when associated with a credit card or pre-paid account.

Political Power and the Rule of Law
by Ron Paul
February 6, 2007

With the elections over and the 110th Congress settling in, the media have been reporting ad nauseam about who has assumed new political power in Washington. We're subjected to breathless reports about emerging power brokers in Congress; how so-and-so is now the powerful chair of an important committee; how certain candidates are amassing power for the 2008 elections, and so on. Nobody questions this use of the word "power," or considers its connotations. It's simply assumed, in Washington and the mainstream media, that political power is proper and inevitable.

The problem is that politicians are not supposed to have power over us – we're supposed to be free. We seem to have forgotten that freedom means the absence of government coercion. So when politicians and the media celebrate political power, they really are celebrating the power of certain individuals to use coercive state force.

Remember that one's relationship with the state is never voluntary. Every government edict, policy, regulation, court decision, and law ultimately is backed up by force, in the form of police, guns, and jails. That is why political power must be fiercely constrained by the American people.

of either a Bush or a Clinton for a total of at least 32 years, 36 if
Hillary is re-elected (many now acknowledge that H.W. Bush pulled the
strings as VP during the Reagan era), and they still say anyone can
become President! What a pathetic joke!

Hillary Clinton surprised few when she announced her intention to run
for the 2008 presidency in New York on Sunday.

Forecasters are already predicting a success for the Senator, meaning
Americans will probably be living under the same hierarchical
oligarchy that brought them rampant illegal immigration, the
devaluation of the dollar, the gigantic deficit, 9/11, and hatred of
the U.S. around the world. The electorate got bored of drinking Coke
so now the establishment is going to provide Pepsi.

Clinton voted for the Patriot Act and she voted for the war in Iraq,
but so many Democrats are blinded by the cult of personality that they
will overwhelmingly vote to put this crime family back in office.
While we have made some progress in educating liberals as to the phony
staged consensus of the left-right paradigm, the fact remains that a
majority still see the White House as some kind of political super
bowl, where the success of their 'team' is the be all and end all - to
the expense of America as a whole.

"I felt that it was appropriate under the circumstances, which really
went back to 1998 under the Clinton administration's conclusion that
the regime had to change, that the President (Bush) had authority to
pursue that goal," said Hillary after giving her personal approval for
the mess in Iraq.

The punch and judy show theatre of the troop surge debate
characterizes Hillary's role in hoodwinking Americans perfectly. The
debate is framed as not whether the U.S. should get out of Iraq
altogether, but the relative minutia of whether to feed 20,000 more
troops into the meat grinder or not. The Democrats play along with
this farce and make empty threats of "non-binding resolutions" that
have no teeth and mean absolutely nothing.

None Of Your Business!
By Rep Ron Paul
2-9-7
You may not have heard of the American Community Survey, but you will. The
national census, which historically is taken every ten years, has expanded
to quench the federal bureaucracy' s ever-growing thirst to govern every
aspect of American life. The new survey, unlike the traditional census, is
taken each and every year at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars. And
it's not brief. It contains 24 pages of intrusive questions concerning
matters that simply are none of the government's business, including your
job, your income, your physical and emotional heath, your family status,
your dwelling, and your intimate personal habits.

The questions are both ludicrous and insulting. The survey asks, for
instance, how many bathrooms you have in your house, how many miles you
drive to work, how many days you were sick last year, and whether you have
trouble getting up stairs. It goes on and on, mixing inane questions with
highly detailed inquiries about your financial affairs. One can only imagine
the countless malevolent ways our federal bureaucrats could use this
information. At the very least the survey will be used to dole out pork,
which is reason enough to oppose it.

<snip>

At least the national census has its origins in the Constitution, which is
more than one can say about the vast majority of programs funded by Congress Still, Article I makes it clear that the census should be taken every ten years for the sole purpose of congressional redistricting (and proportionment of taxes, prior to the disastrous 16th amendment).

This means a simple count of the number of people living in a given area, so that numerically equal congressional districts can be maintained. The founders never authorized the federal government to continuously survey the American people.

More importantly, they never envisioned a nation where the people would roll
over and submit to every government demand. The American Community Survey is patently offensive to all Americans who still embody that fundamental American virtue, namely a healthy mistrust of government. The information demanded in the new survey is none of the government's business, and the American people should insist that Congress reject it now before it becomes entrenched.

1- First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor
gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant. They
deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American
woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway
trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had
broken down and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960's. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance and
put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his
address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a
knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A
special note was attached.

It read:
"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway
the other night. The rain drenched not only my
clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
husband's bedside just before he passed away... God
bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
others."

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those
who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less,
a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and
sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in
front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and
studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the
waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on
the table and walked away The boy finished the ice
cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress
came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish,
were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had
to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a
roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the
king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the
King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of
vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing
and straining, he finally succeeded. After the
peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed
a purse lying in the road where the boulder had
been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note
from the King indicating that the gold was for the
person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The
peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve
our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a
hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only
chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would
be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a
deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save
her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed
next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing
the color returning to her cheek. Then his face
grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice,
"Will I start to die right away".

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.
